GURKAS ON GUARD ON SINGAPORE SHIPS

Singapore has tightened security including maritime vigilence, following the Bali bombings. Measures include deployment of Gurka contingent (GC) officers at sea checkpoints. The GC officers are deployed at Singapore Cruise Centre, Tanah Mera Ferry Terminal and Changi Point Ferry Terminal. The Police Coast Guard checks ferries and other vessels which enter Singapore territorial waters.
